Teething

One day Beans was sliding back and forth along our table. It was hilarious. I think part of it had to do with her teeth coming in and that perhaps it made her gums feel better. She still likes to bite on things as her teeth come in. even though her teeth are small, they are super sharp.

Happy birthday, Thing 1

Our first born turned 8 last year. She is a wonderful little girl. I could not have asked for a better child. She is brave and stands up for what is right, even when she has to stand up to a friend. She helps out at home, is super smart, thoughtful and all around such a great person. She wanted to sleep out on the air mattress with Thing 2  one of their favorite things to do on the weekends and in summertime. Thing 1, we love you so much.

Gilroy Gardens

While we were in Reno, we went on another short trip to California. We spent the day at Gilroy Gardens. It is a small amusement park, perfect for our little ones. Not too big, they can ride the roller coasters, and there is a place to get soaked at as well. We went with Little Brother and his family as well as Nana and Papa. There were wild turkeys running around. It was awesome. This trip was so much fun Thing 1 even wrote a book about it for school. It really was one of my favorite trips in a while. Simple family fun, quality time spent with loved ones, best combination ever.

Want S'More

I guess B used the hard stuff to get the fire started this time. Normally, we just use matches and paper.

A few years ago B and the girls got me an outdoor fire pit for Mother's Day. We use it all the time to cook s'mores. I love looking out at the view in our backyard, playing with our children. I look forward to these evenings all winter long. It is a great way to spend some time with the family, and the s'mores are always yummy too. Beans loves the chocolate the most. Thing 2 loves the marshmallows the most and Thing 1 is like me, it all tastes good together.

Happy 1st Birthday Baby Beans

I can't believe how fast this first year went with Beans. WE LOVE BEANS!!! Her sisters are completely smitten with her and her father and I adore her. She is such a happy little person. I love her little roll lines in her arms. She reminds me of a much cuter Michelin man. As evidenced by one of the first photos,  you can see Beans loves to eat sweets. She is our little sugar monster. She knows what sweets are, unfortunately far too much for her own good. We really have to keep them out of her reach and not even that many in the house. We were in Reno for her birthday and so we had a little party for her with her cousins. They played put-put and had pizza and cupcakes afterward. That night we set off Chinese floating lanterns in the sky. They were SO MUCH FUN! Uncle Little Brother has a video of them going of during the second night.

Not a baby bottle

For father's day we got some Henry Weinhard's Root beer for B.  That stuff is delish. Bean loved it, as you can see. She is such a funny kid.

Our little runner

Thing 1 participated on our local track team this past spring. She got the gold medal for shot put, which we didn't even see her participate in! She also got a ribbon for one of her relay races. It was a lot of fun watching her run around.

Goin' for a ride

We took a lot of bike rides this summer. Our neighbor actually gave us her old bike trailer which has been FABULOUS, but before that we had our little bike seat where we could stick our littlest one at the time. Each of the girls has had her turn in the back. Beans was so cute in her little helmet, she wasn't too fond of it though. It was a little bit too big, it really belongs to Thing 2  and in part of the ride it slipped over her eyes. It is fun getting out and enjoying the nice weather here though for sure.

Creepin' along on the Heber Creeper

During the summer our local train has these super cheap train rides for locals. Nana was in town so we decided to take advantage and hop on. It doesn't really go anywhere, just a few miles out into nowhere really, but it is fun to watch for little animals along the way.

HIKIN' THE "Y"

One fine summer day B and I took the girls hiking up to the Y. I never did it while I was in school, so it was a new experience for me as well. B thought they should have revoked my degree since I didn't climb it while I was in college, oh well. The girls did really well. We took a few short breaks but not many. Beans enjoyed being carted up and now we can say we hiked the Y.
