Catch up

We have been hit by the sick bug pretty hard around here. For the last few weeks we have been hanging out at home sick. The only one that hasn't gotten sick is Thing 2  thank goodness. Here are a few pictures of my little ones. You'd think with all the time we hang out together I'd have a million pictures of the two, but I don't. We are usually all asleep or lookin' pretty miserable when we're awake. One of our last outings before getting sick. Thing 1 at Dino park riding the dino. Watch out ya'll- she's a wild one.
Thing 1 has been hangning out in our bed since she has been sick. She sleeps the night in her own bed but at the crack of dawn she is up and by our bedside asking if she can snuggle. I am such a sucker for this little girl so of course I let her in. This morning I had to take a picture of this. Her head somehow managed to get into the pillow case.
This is our little Thing 2  She is such a wonderful baby!! I can't put enough exclamation points after that sentence. She is a content happy little person that we can't get enough of. She is growing so fast. She has these little cheeks that are too much, they make you want to pinch them they are so cute.

I was taking a few photos of Miss Thing 2 and being the ham that she is Thing 1 jumped on the bed to get in a few pics. This is what she gave me to work with. I think it is funny she likes to do this on her own without the least bit of encouragement from anyone.

President Hinckley

I love this man. I will terribly miss him. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and was extraordinary in many ways. I know he is in heaven and is happy now he is with his sweet wife Marjorie. They were an adorable couple and great example of what couples can achieve after a lifetime together.

Pretty in Pink?

The other day we ate crepes with fresh berries and they were delicious. For Thing 1 it was quite a tactile experience. She wouldn't quit using her hands no matter how many times we reminded her of her fork. So in the end we just let her have at them and took a picture before she got back in the bath to clean up.

Girls' Night

Whenever B is on call we have a girls' night. It makes the nights daddy is gone more bearable. We usually go eat with dad and then watch a movie in my bed. It is a grand ole time.

The only way I can sleep with Thing 1 is if it is JUST she and I in the bed and this is why. She turns all over, kicks off the covers, kicks you and sometimes punches you, or she "snuggles" you which consists of her doing a strangle hold on you around your neck.

Well, the other night after Thing 1 had flipped over and was lying with her head under the covers I heard this sweet little voice, "Mom, where did you go?" I was awake because I had just fed Thing 2  I couldn't help but smile as I told her I was still here it was just her that had flipped upside down. She said, "Oh, OK" and went right back to sleep. I love this little girl.

Thing 2 is the pink little bundle in the corner. She gets to join in our girls' nights although she has no idea that she is.

Nightmare in the making

This morning I went out before church to shovel the driveway and clean off the car. During the night a foot or just under that dropped on the ground (and it is still falling). Since B was on call the task fell to me, hooray for snow on call days. Anyways, I dusted off the snow from the car and went to work getting the snow I just pushed on the ground out of the way so we could actually get to the car. While I was in front of the car just finishing up I heard a loud BANG. It sounded like it came from the car but when I looked at it it appeared to be fine. Well, I went inside, quickly got dressed, went back outside to start the car, went back inside to grab the girls, and out we all went to head for church- on time might I add. (Which I think is a pretty good accomplishment for 9 am church.) When I opened the back door I saw where the bang came from. The back window. It had SHATTERED! It didn't just crack, I wish that was all that had happened because I could have still driven to church. (I don't get out as much right now with Thing 1 being as little as she is and with how cold it has been. Making the days I Do get to get out all the more priceless. Which I think makes this all the more frustrating. I don't care to be "stuck" inside against my own will.)

I have to clean this up?

Do you see the glass in their seats? DO YOU? IMAGINE That would have been all over them. HORRIBLE!

When I closed the car door the glass all fell in. This could have happened while my girls were in the car. The glass would have landed on my babies. What a horrible NIGHTMARE that would have been. As upset as I am that we have to deal this mess and are down to one car till we get this mess fixed, I am very glad that we were at home when it happened and I am even more relieved that my sweet babes weren't hurt from the glass breaking on their heads or faces. What a mess that would have been. I can't help but think of how blessed we are to have the girls be OK.

Well, I turned the car off and took the girls back inside, changed back into the shoveling clothes and went to work. One of my wonderful neighbors was outside and when I told him what happened he didn't even hesitate to come and help me shovel the rest of the driveway to the garage. I have been blessed with fabulous neighbors! On either side of my house we have wonderful men who have helped with the snow this season. They have been such a wonderful blessing for our family. There have been many days that we have been up to our eyeballs in snow but B has been on call and I have been unable to shovel- due to being 9 months pregnant or just having had a c section. These men have shoveled our driveway many times. I am forever grateful for their efforts towards our family.

Now I have the fun task of cleaning all the glass out of the back window and off of the car seats, but I'll save that for tomorrow.

The Proud Big Sister

Thing 1 LOVES being a big sister. She is such a great helper! I love to see the two of them together. When Thing 2 is upset and I am in the other room I can hear Thing 1 saying, "There, there, Thing 2  it will be alright. Don't cry sweet girl." She is a little mimic of her mother of course. She repeats everything that I say. Which is fine as long as I watch what I say. Having children has been the best motivation to be a better person- at least for me. The worst thing to see is my own faults amplified in my child. Needless to say I really try and watch what I do so I like what Thing 1 does.
