Thoughts from a four year old

Today when we pulled up to church a friend of ours was out sprinkling salt on the ground so people don't slip and what not. Thing 1 saw Bryce all dressed up in his suit and asks what is that missionary doing on the sidewalk. We then explained and she continued to ask a few more questions. Is he a prophet?-No. Is he an apostle?-No Is he a Bishop?-No, he is just a guy dressed up for church. At this point B turns to me and says, maybe her dad should wear his suit more often.
We both had a good chuckle and then the ladies in Relief Society had a chuckle as I told them before I started my lesson. Got to love little minds and how they work.

Midget Monkey

Thing 2 is little. People think she is three months younger then she really is. When we went into her check up at 9 months she had gone from the 50th percentile to the 19th percentile. While our Dr. said that she was probably about to go through a growth spurt and will catch back up, I can't help look at her and think she is a little midget monkey. She REALLY does climb over EVERYTHING! If I am sitting with her at the table she will squirm out of my lap and climb onto the table. These are a few pictures of her having wriggled her way out of my dad's arms and into the roasting pan. After this he went and took the two of them into the living room and onto the floor to play. There are posted pictures of that already on here.  You can see in the last picture her cute little face and how happy she is that she did it on her own. She is a sneaky little girl. She is one that we have to watch out for. If we aren't careful she tries to climb on the cats' backs and ride them. Which I STILL don't get why they don't run away.

More Fall Time Fun

Thing 1 has the funniest smile lately, she is trying harder and harder it seems and well... this is what we end up with.

Thing 2 is a climber. She uses everything in life as her own jungle gym.

Before my family got here B raked the leaves into the garden area in our backyard. We were hoping we would have enough like last year to be able to throw the kids into the leaves and not risk hurting them. Sadly, not all of the leaves have fallen yet, so while it was a big pile and the girls liked playing in it. Last year we had this much and half this amount again.

ALL ABOARD!!!

Thing 2 trying to go after the Elves' village through the window.

Little Arden lookin back at us.
Thing 1 and Santa taking about if she has been good or not. She wasn't feeling Super Duper Terrific, yet we still went. She was looking forward to seeing Santa and going on the Polar express and so on. So when she got sick that afternoon, we took it easy and hoped that it was just a one time thing. Fortunately, it was. Now the kids in front of her may have gotten sick, but... I don't care. I know, I know that sounds awful.  We would have postponed the trip if that were at all possible, but since we couldn't, we didn't. She loved it.

While family was in town we went to The Polar Express. We had been waiting to see how the judge would rule on my brother's court case and custody of the kids so we could see if and when we could all go together. All of the little ones loved it. We had the conductor and Mrs. Claus and Good Ole Saint Nick visit us as we were on board. It was great to be a kid again.

Thanksgiving Meal

This year most of my family came to my house for Thanksgiving. It was so much fun! Lots of great food that we'll be eating for the next week.
B is in his scrubs because he was on call and one of our friends went in for him so he'd have an hour or two to eat a real Thanksgiving dinner and not the one done by the hospital. It was REALLY nice to have him there. I think that was my favorite part.

Basting the Baby

Thing 2 is a climber. She climbs into EVERYTHING! On Thanksgiving, she found the roasting pan and thought it was great fun to climb in. So we took the pan and put it on the floor and let her have it before we cleaned it and put the turkey in to cook.

My Little Ones

I sure love these little girls. It still amazes me how much love a parent can feel for his or her children. Even after the drive they drive you bonkers.

Fall fun in the leaves.

Our trees in the back yard drop leaves and leaves and more leaves! Not so much for B and I and the constant clean up but lots of fun for the little girls.

Thing 2 really got a kick out of having the leaves piled on her. After this happened I had a flat tire and while I was changing it in my driveway she made a pile of leaves all her own on the spare tire. It was fun to watch her pick up the leaves and put them on the tire and then take them off and then on again. She is so easily amused.

The Babies' Baby Shower

New mommy, M and her mom Lora.
Thing 1 and Mikey were great help throughout the night. They are such sweet little girls.

My first diaper cake. Someone brought this diaper wreath and I thought it was too cute. It was a great idea.
When we went to Reno at the first of the month we went for M''s baby shower. It was relaxed and enjoyable. We played a few games but there was no guessing what melted candy bars in diapers or tasting of baby food.

Twins

No, I am not having twins but my brother and his wife did. The girls were born on October 16th. They are so tiny and I want to post pictures but the only pictures I have are of the two itsy bitsy babies with no clothes on. On Mallory's site she has posted pictures and for those of you that know Mike you can see them here.
I just wanted to put a little something on here though. Even though they are super tiny you can still tell they look like their mama. They are troopers too. They both had to have heart surgery and are doing great and now they are starting to fatten up. Even though they both weigh under three pounds they are bigger then when they were born. It will be fun to get to meet the little ladies. I am really excited for Mike and Mallory. They are great parents.

Turkey Day

Gobble gobble turkeys. Soon we are going to eat you! OK not really these particular turkeys but a turkey all the same.
I love this time of year. From October through the new year I am in heaven. I love the fall festivals and wish there was more time to go to all of them. This year I am trying to get in as much as possible before Thing 1 goes to school. I really am amazed that my baby is going to be in kindergarten next year. We have been going out of town a lot this year and it has been busy but fun.
Most of my side of the family is coming for Thanksgiving this year and I am so excited. In the 5+ years we have been together this will be the first BIG meal I will be preparing. Too bad B will be at the hospital on call. Thank goodness for leftovers.

Umm Oops

My parents went to Vegas a few days before the rest of us did a few weeks ago. While they were there they went to the Hoover damn. My dad drives the big white pickup. When they went to leave a man driving a 2008 Lamborghini  didn't see my dad's truck and backed up into the towing hitch. It didn't do anything to my dad's truck, but... the exotic car wasn't so lucky.

Breakfast of Champions

Coy little baby. She poses like this on her own. She is such a flirt.

Thing 2 loves to eat real food! One morning when my family was here I made a fun yummy breakfast. Thing 2 ate what the big girls ate and loved it. Her favorite part was eating the raspberries, as evidenced by the red face

Burn baby Burn

The fluid under the car was red transmission fluid. It looked as if someone had murdered my car, quite literally.

The night we came back from Provo the Grand Prix caught on fire. Now I don't mean a little smoke I mean full on flames!!!!! I had just had work done on it and the shop I took it to forgot to put hoses back on right and the coolant line into the transmission blew when it overheated and, then the spark plugs sparked-imagine that- and there you have it; burning coolant all over the inside of the car. Fortunately, my parents were in town and were able to help us so we didn't have to call someone at 11 o'clock at night. Even though this was pretty horrible it could have been so much worse. The girls and I could have been on our way to Vegas or back, I could have been alone with the girls, etc. We were right next to a gas station that had fire extinguisher.
I went to a great place to have it fixed and they got the people who made the mistake to pay for the problem and they fixed everything for us. They made the car better then it was before it caught on fire and it was great looking for the trade in.

Halloween Extravaganza

Black Island Hills is a great place! It is in Syracuse and has all these fun things to do for kids.

Here we are on a hayless hay ride to go and pick up pumpkins.
A little train ride for all of us. It was one of the most painful rides I have been on in a while.

Piggy races.
Run piggy run.

Corn maze
Corn sling shot
Thing 2 peeking through a whole to look at the girls.
Slides and more slides. Thing 1's face is hilarious in this one. This ride terrified her on the way down and she screamed like a banshee, but she got up and continued to scream as she ran around for another round. It was too funny.
This one was more her size.

Thing 2 trying to get at the girls in the pumpkin jump.

More train.
