Our favorite Realtor

As we were searching for our home here in Ogden we were able to find a fantastic realtor, Connie Dorsey. She bent over backwards for us while we were searching for a new place to live and did a lot of footwork for us while we were out of town. For those of you that know me well know that when I find a good thing I share it with everyone, so I'm tellin' ya if you need a realtor here in UT she is your gal.

Thing 1 came to absolutely adore her (as did the rest of us) !!!!!!! I think it was because every time we would need to focus on papers of anything Connie would play with Thing 1  For instance, when we were closing she brought a princess set for her to dress up in and do all sorts of fun things with to keep her occupied. Connie couldn't make it to Thing 1's birthday party- yes we did actually invite her to come that is what a good friend she has become- but as soon as she got back in town she headed on up.

Thing 1 in the kitchen

Whether we were in Boise or here in Ogden; Thing 1 loves to help cook. She actually loves to help with whatever we are doing. Here are some pictures of her making brownies in our Boise home and cupcakes in our Ogden house. The cupcakes were actually for her birthday party. Needless to say she always wants to make sure they are good before we bake them and she is really hands on in her baking techniques.

Breaking in the new house

Here B pulled out the finger paints with Thing 1 and let her have at it. Fortunately, it is all very washable. She had a blast.

IT'S A PARTY

July 21st
We threw Thing 1 a third birthday party and it was so much fun. We had a pretty good turn out too. We invited a few kids from the neighborhood and some of the families from B's work and of course family. I have to say it is nice having family here in the area. B's parents came down and all of his siblings were here. We had the kids "go fish" for candy and a balloon stomp, where the kids had to find the balloons and stomp on them to get to the candy from inside, in addition to a few other games that didn't have to do with candy. We had a BBQ with hot dogs and hamburgers and cake and ice cream and tons of side dishes to go along with it. All in all, I think it was simple but it was a lot of fun for the kids. Thing 1 is still getting used to the idea that her Boise friends don't live around here but she is enjoying her new friends.

Hello Dr., Dr.,...Dr., Dr.,... Dr., Dr., Quoted from "Spies Like Us."

B is now an offical Dr. His graduation was amazing. I didn't realize how much emotion was tied up into the whole thing. I should have since it has been a four year journey but still I just didn't think I would be that emotional about it. B's parents and my parents went to Seattle with us. We went a few days early with B's family and did a little site seeing. It was a great weekend. I am so proud of B.

Good Bye to Boise

We are going to miss our Boise home and friends. We have made many good memories and wonderful friends along the way.

Baloo

I grew up with dogs and have wanted one for our family for a long time. Band I decided now would be as good of a time as any. Thing 1 loves my parents' dogs and we thought she needed one of her own as well. I found him before we left for FL and B picked him up before we got home on the 1st. He is a mix of a Great Pyrenees and a lab. He is soo cute but is a handful. Thing 1 loves him when he is a sleep the most, that is when she can run around without worrying if he will pounce on her. He thinks she is the perfect size playmate. Unfortunately, she doesn't completely share the same sentiments on the matter; not yet anyways.

DISNEY WORLD

Thing 1 and I went to Disney World with my mom, brother and his two children. Thing 1 had a blast. She was in awe the entire trip. I was nervous that the larger then life characters would intimidate or scare her. I had no need to fear, she was in heaven. She met Pooh and Tigger, Mickey Mouse and Pluto, one of the dwarfs and a few of the princesses. We took the girls to the princess brunch and they were so excited. Thing 1 would call, "Cinderella, Cinderella!" out across the room when she saw her. To her they were the real deal and I don't know if I have ever seen her so excited for such an extended period of time. Not just at the brunch but the entire time we were there.

Move to Ogden

We closed on our house in Ogden and started the trek to our new home. We were glad we weren't going clear across the country like some of our medical school friends decided to do. Our move was relatively small, only 300 miles. We had such mixed emotions leaving Boise. Thing 1 has such great friends there and it was comfortable but... we were ready to move on with our lives.

We love our new home. There is so much more space then our Boise home had and we don't have to do any of the work to fix it up. There are paint choices we will change but that is minor and can be done in a year or two without any problem. Nothing that we just can't live with. Not for now anyways.

It is nice having a finished basement with enough room for Thing 1 to put her toys in and play with them, even if it is totally retro with the wood paneling.
