Cake Number Two
I am still amazed that my little Thing 2 is a year old. She is a fun little girl who loves to play and laughs all the time. She looks up to her older sister but knows how to push her buttons at any given time. She growls and chases the cats. She enjoys waving goodbye to Daddy from the kitchen window and blows kisses and gets excited when he comes home. She is close to walking but can really go when she crawls, so I am not surprised that she still crawls. She is tiny too. She is in the 50% so she still fits in her 9 month old outfits, some of her 6 month ones too.
She had a few cakes this year. The first one I had made and before I could take a picture of it B sliced a piece out of it. Yes, I did get upset with him. Although, to be fair he thought I had her birthday without him and had already done the picture thing. We celebrated Christmas early so my parents could be here for opening presents, it was just a day or two early nothing big. Well, the next day Thing 1 says, "Today is Thing 2's birthday." Which technically it should have been. So I had her cake and we were going to celebrate it with my parents before they left as well, but B wasn't going to be home until late that night. I cannot let Thing 2 celebrate her first birthday without her dad. So we waited and then B ate a piece of her cake.
The next cake was an all chocolate cake I made and frosted for her. I made all of us little individual cakes in fact. I didn't have a ton of frosting so I frosted hers well and the others were lamely done, but they still had frosting. While I am putting Thing 2 in her chair getting her ready to have her picture taken with her 2nd cake Thing 1 grabs a little cake for herself. Well, she is no dummy so she grabs the one with the most frosting on it. Doh! I was livid, I mean seriously what is the deal?! I just had to bite my tongue so I didn't yell at my four year old for doing something any smart four year old would have done. It still makes me a bit hot under the collar thinking about it though. Thing 1 had not one but three beautiful cakes and I can't seem to manage 1 for Thing 2? Where is the love? It is a good thing she is only one and doesn't care what her cake looks like just as long as she gets cake.
