Harvest Moon

Saturday Ogden was supposed to have it's 6th annual harvest moon festival. I have to admit I was REALLY looking forward to it. There were going to be a lot of different activities for kids and the best part was they were going to be free. How can it get any better. Well, Saturday rolls around and what happens? It SNOWS!!!!! We went anyways. B was post call that day and I wanted to get outside even if it meant in the snow and rain and enjoy our daddy. They didn't say that activities were going to be cancelled if it rained so I really did think they would have tents and what not in case of bad weather. I mean after all it is Utah and weather is never a sure thing here.

When we got downtown we quickly saw that there was nothing going on like there was supposed to be. Still I was hopeful. We went to Great Harvest to see if they were still making bread pumpkins with the kids and sure enough, THEY WERE. So Thing 1 and I washed our hands and put on our aprons and got into the action. After taking the picture of the two of us, Daddy went and took a nap at our table. Bless his heart he is soooo good to come along even when he is exhausted.
Thing 1 was in awe of the orange dough and had fun getting all messy. She is getting old enough to enjoy doing things in the kitchen now and isn't just making a mess. While we waited for the bread to rise and bake we ate a lite lunch there and let Thing 1 dance to the music. When we left for home Thing 1 says to me, " That was fun, Mom, thanks." Even though I felt bad at first thinking I had disappointed her in the lack of fun things to do, she still had fun.

So the next night we made homemade soup and ate our bread bowls. Albeit, Thing 1 refused to let me put her soup into her bread bowl. She didn't want to make it all soggy. "Bread is just for eating, mom."

Maybe next year won't be such a bust, even if it is we can still count on Great Harvest to pull through.
